How To Enable Wireless Debugging With The ADB In Android Studio In Ubuntu Linux

Sometimes debugging the android app via USB connection gets headache and you want to get rid of the USB connection. If you want to get rid of USB debugging then you are on right article. To enable wireless debugging in Android Studio Development you need to first enable developer options in your mobile. You can check How To enable Developer Options in Android mobile.

You can enable wireless debugging in Android Studio in two ways. In this article, we will see the both way to enable wireless debugging in Android Studio.


Enable Wireless Debugging of Android Studio in Ubuntu Linux Command Line

To enable this you have to install android-tools-adb on your system. To install this please run below command in terminal.

After installing the android-tools-adb successfully you can run below command to check the connected devices to system via USB.

Now, you have to restart TCPIP for any port. To restart TCPIP port 1213 run below command

restart tcp ip android tools adb

Now, go to your mobile’s WIFI settings and select the connected SSID. Note the IP/IPv4 address it will be something like 192.168.x.x

Note: Your system and your mobile should be connected with same WiFi.

To connect your mobile to wifi adb run following command in terminal. Make sure your mobile phone should be connected to system via USB wire.

After successfully connection of devices with tcp ip port. You can run the below command to check the connected devices. You will see 2 devices. First device is connected via USB and Second device is connected via Wireless TCP IP.

Now you can remove your mobile from USB and enjoy the wireless debugging in Android Studio Development.

Enable Wireless Debugging of Android Studio Development with WiFi ADB Ultimate Plugin

Enabling Wireless Debugging of Android Studio Development is very easy with WiFi ADB Ultimate plugin. To install the plugin Go to Android Studio: File >> Settings >> Plugins and search Wifi ADB Ultimate.

Click on the install button. After successfully installing the plugin IDE will ask to restart so that WiFi ADB Ultimate will reflect in Android Studio.

After restarting Android Studio. You can see vertically aligned “WiFi ADB Ultimate” tab. Click on that and new window will open.

Click on the refresh button. You will see all USB connected devices under Local Devices.

Now, go to your mobile’s WIFI settings and select the connected SSID. Note the IP/IPv4 address it will be something like 192.168.x.x. You can add your IPv4 address & any port and click on the Press To Connect button.

To connect your mobile to wifi ADB, make sure your mobile phone should be connected to system via USB wire.

After that you can see 2 devices under local devices & remote devices. Now you can remove your mobile from USB and enjoy the wireless debugging in Android Studio.
